ONStor was a United States–based hardware manufacturer that designed NAS gateway products, tracing its roots to a Silicon Valley startup. It launched in 2000 and shifted from its original concept into the storage market during the mid-2000s. The company expanded its offerings in 2006 by adding block storage to complement its NAS lineup, and in 2007 introduced the Cougar line, a 1U NAS storage gateway featuring four gigabit LAN ports and four SAN ports. 

In the summer of 2009, ONStor was acquired by LSI Corporation as part of its Engenio storage division. In March 2011, LSI announced the sale of its storage business to NetApp, but the ONStor group was not included in the deal because NetApp already provided NAS products. Subsequently, the ONStor group was dissolved, with some employees relocating to other roles within LSI.
