Operation Restoration is a nonprofit based in New Orleans that supports women and girls affected by incarceration to recognize their potential, rebuild their lives, and pursue new opportunities. The organization emphasizes advocacy, education, economic mobility, and true economic equity for staff, clients, and the broader community, with the aim of ending incarceration for women and girls. It runs about fifteen programs, including wrap-around services addressing employment and housing insecurity and a community bail fund, all led by formerly incarcerated women and shaped by local needs, spanning from early literacy to higher education. Its policy work is informed by women with direct incarceration experience, guiding efforts to shift resources from incarceration toward social supports and to influence city and state reforms addressing poverty, systemic racism, and economic insecurity. In 2026, OR received the Marguerite Redwine Innovation & Excellence in Homeless Services Award and continued to engage the community through events such as the Second Chance Employment & Resource Fair.
