The Oregon Coast Aquarium is a mid-sized nonprofit educational attraction located in Newport, Oregon, focused on marine science and public learning. The site sits within a woodland and estuary setting, with exhibits designed to mirror native habitats and a living classroom approach for visitors of all ages. Its exhibits are noted internationally for high-quality construction, careful maintenance, and thoughtful interpretation, and they include habitats for sea otters, harbor seals, and California sea lions, as well as a large outdoor seabird aviary and a rocky den housing a giant Pacific octopus.
Based in Newport and operating as a not-for-profit in the Museums, Historical Sites, and Zoos sector, it serves as a major educational resource for Oregon, attracting a substantial public audience and about 40,000 students annually. The aquarium engages in conservation and rehabilitation work, with programs such as the sea otter loan breeding project, the yelloweye rockfish study, sea otter olfactory research, and the Oregon silverspot butterfly conservation effort; in 2025 it launched the Washed Ashore temporary exhibit to highlight threats facing marine life.
