Oyin Handmade is an artisanal manufacturer of moisture-rich personal care products, formulated for highly textured hair and dry skin. Since 2003, we’ve used food-grade ingredients to create high-performance personal care products with clean, good-for-you formulas. Our capacities include custom manufacturing, organizational gifting, medical and hospitality supply, and e-commerce fulfillment. Oyin (“oy-yeen”) is the Yoruba word for honey! Honey is an incredible natural humectant, a fabulous ingredient for dry hair and skin. It also reminds us of sweetness, love, and joy - the feelings our brand seeks to inspire in the everyday acts of self-care. Our goal is healthy, happy hair and skin. Our brand was founded by Jamyla Bennu, who started making moisture-rich products for her highly textured natural hair in 2001 - a time when nearly every ‘ethnic’ product on the market was focused on straightening or relaxing. She built our first website in 2003 and began selling the products online to other naturalistas. We are proud to be part of the early wave of the #naturalhair movement, and thrilled to have provided consistent, trusted moisture-rich products for over 20 years! We remain a family-owned, woman- and black-owned and led small business. We are based in Baltimore and manufacture our products using food-grade and natural ingredients.
