Maia Ballard is a native of Detroit, Michigan but has lived in Cleveland, Ohio since 1996. She became a Teradata/telecommunications apprentice with Local 38 IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) in 2005. During her apprenticeship, Maia noticed the lack of diversity within her chosen career field and in her class. After the completion of her apprenticeship in 2008, she continued to work for signatory contractors in the Union to develop her skills and increase her knowledge. Then in January of 2010 Maia and her Husband Michael decided to start their own electrical company because they wanted to bring about a well-needed change and to create more diversity within the local electrical industry. That desire created RWJ WIRING, INC a family-owned electrical contracting company. Maia completed several Construction Management Classes/Schools such as Turners School of Construction Management, Gilbane School of Construction Management, Kent State in Conjunction with Turner School of Construction Management, Cose Strategic Business Planning Course 2017, and Next Step Interise Strategies for Business Growth. She continued to strive to educate herself on thriving in the construction industry as well as being a smart and savvy entrepreneur. During the creation and implementation of RWJ Maia wanted to offer other small and Minority contractors a resource to buy construction material and tools at competitive prices. This issue had been a struggle for RWJ because as a small contractor you seldom get big discounts in less you buy in quantity or you purchase a lot of material from a vendor who wants to give you a discount to retain your business. This is where P and C supplies came into the picture. P and C supply was created to cater to the small business construction companies who needed competitive pricing to bid jobs and to other small businesses like our looking to keep the doors open.
