Frank Pallone, Jr. was recently sworn in for his 13th full term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Pallone represents New Jersey's Sixth Congressional District, which covers most of Middlesex County, as well as the Bayshore and oceanfront areas of Monmouth County, the Township of Plainfield in Union County and Franklin in Somerset County. Throughout his tenure in Congress, Pallone has continued to be a leader in protecting the integrity of the Medicare guarantee and Medicaid programs, ensuring food safety, strengthening the federal Superfund program to clean up toxic waste sites, strengthening the nation's clean water laws, and protecting our shores against the threat of offshore drilling. In the face of too many violent mass shootings, Congressman Pallone has been a consistent advocate for reasonable and commonsense gun control to maintain the safety in our schools, public spaces, and communities. A long time member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, Pallone has defended women's reproductive rights and Roe v. Wade as it has been attacked time and time again. He has voted no on every effort by Republicans to strip funding for Planned Parenthood and other essential healthcare providers. Congressman Pallone is an ardent supporter an advocate of LGBT equality. In 1996, he was one of only 67 members of the House to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act, the federal law that defines marriage as the legal union between one man and one woman.
