After a decade working in hospital administration, founder Brian Whorley saw the same story play out again and again: patients with insurance who couldn't afford to use it. So in 2018, Brian and co-founder Daniel Lynn created Paytient — a healthcare benefit that ensures people can actually get the care they need when they need it, without financial harm.

Here's the problem we solve: 40% of people (inclusive of all income levels) with employer-sponsored health insurance are avoiding care right now because they can't afford the out-of-pocket cost.
