Based in Brooklyn, New York, the Peggy Lillis Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on education and advocacy around Clostridium difficile. It was established in response to the April 2010 death of Margaret 'Peggy' Lillis, a Brooklyn Kindergarten teacher. The foundation seeks to build a nationwide awareness movement by informing the public, empowering advocates, and shaping policy, with the aim of making C. diff infections rare, treatable, and survivable. With a small staff based in Brooklyn, the foundation pursues national outreach through education and advocacy on C. diff. Its activities target the general public, advocacy communities, and policymakers concerned with infection prevention and care. In November 2023, it launched the 'see C. Diff' campaign and announced its 14th annual gala to mark the start of C. diff Awareness Month.
