The Borough of Pendle (population 91,405) is located in north-west England, on the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire. It is one of 12 district councils in the 'red rose county' and forms part of the Pennine Lancashire sub-region. It is home to one of the largest concentrations of aerospace and advanced engineering businesses in the UK.

Created in 1974, the borough takes its name from the imposing Pendle Hill (pictured above). Nelson (34,000) is the largest town and administrative centre. The nearby historic market town of Colne (19,000) and village of Barrowford (6,000) both offer a high quality shopping and leisure experience. To the north Barnoldswick (11,000) and Earby (4,500) are the largest settlements in rural West Craven, once part of the historic West Riding of Yorkshire.

There's lots to enjoy in Pendle. Excellent road and rail connections bring visitors from the nearby cities of Manchester, Leeds and Preston all year round. They come to explore some of England's finest unspoilt countryside; to take part in our award-winning walking and cycling festivals; to visit our historic towns and villages and to shop at Boundary Mill, the largest designer outlet in the country.
