The Foundation has one clear mission, making the Virginia Peninsula a better place for everyone who lives here. We provide individuals and organizations with opportunities to invest in the Virginia Peninsula and improve the quality of life for its citizens. We bring people together to do extraordinary things to make our community the best it can be. The Peninsula Community Foundation is helping to create the future. Located here are some of the most advanced research and manufacturing facilities in the world. Jefferson Laboratory and NASA Langley, for example, employ some of the smartest scientists in the world and are involved in research that enhances our understanding of how our physical world works and how it relates to other worlds in our galaxy. In the manufacturing sector Newport News Shipyard is the undisputed world leader in shipbuilding and its related technologies. The real asset of the Peninsula however is the people who live here. The talent and abilities of our citizens are the basic building blocks for our success and our quality of life. Our talents combined with our willingness to stay civically connected are the key to the area’s continued success. The Foundation’s goal is to work with its community partners, to identify places where new strengths can be built and to encourage greater civic engagement throughout the community.
