Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society is the nation’s original first-year honor society, recognizing and developing high-achieving college students from the very beginning of their academic journey. Founded in 1923, Phi Eta Sigma was established on the belief that excellence should be recognized early — not after years have passed. Membership is offered to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement during their first year of college and who show promise as scholars, leaders, and engaged citizens. Through national scholarships, leadership development, service initiatives, and a lifelong network of chapters and alumni, Phi Eta Sigma provides members with opportunities to grow in mind, health, and character. Our programs are designed to support students as they navigate college, prepare for their careers, and lead with integrity in their communities.
