Phoenix Dance Theatre is the UK’s longest standing contemporary dance company outside of London. Since the Company’s small beginnings in 1981, it has grown to be a key Northern forerunner in contemporary dance and for three and a half decades has performed across the globe educating and inspiring audiences through the medium of dance. As a middle scale repertory company, Phoenix employs a permanent company of professional dancers to showcase an innovative programme of dance performances by a diverse range of choreographers to audiences across the UK and internationally. Phoenix is often commissioned to perform at special events and deliver special projects and co-productions of varying sizes. Phoenix has an established dance education programme that delivers workshops and pre-vocational and accredited dance training in schools, colleges, universities, community settings and at our own studios to young people from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities. Throughout 2016 Phoenix Dance Theatre celebrates its 35 year of outstanding dance with a special anniversary tour celebrating the diversity and collaboration for which the Company has become internationally known.
