PICMG is a not-for-profit consortium that develops open standards for high-performance embedded computing across industries such as industrial, military/aerospace, telecommunications, test/measurement, and medical. It counts more than 150 member companies contributing expertise in areas from mechanical and thermal design to backplane packaging and system management. Founded in 1994, its formal name is the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group, and its original aim was to extend the PCI standard to non-desktop applications.

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, PICMG operates within the computer hardware manufacturing sector as a standards organization coordinating open specifications for embedded computing and related architectures. The group provides access to its specification documents via its website, including short-form materials and links to the full standards. A recent development is the March 2026 release of COM-HPC 1.3, illustrating ongoing updates to its standard suite for high-performance computing.
