Pierce and Associates provides energy management and sustainability services to schools, governments, non-profits and businesses. The Company specializes in working with K-12 School Districts. Founded in 1994 by Sue Pierce, CPA, Principal, Pierce and Associates. Since 1994, Pierce and Associates Company, Inc. DBA Pierce Energy Planning has supported K-12 schools and other organizations throughout the nation serving them in the areas of finance, facility planning, strategic planning, professional development, curriculum, demographic research, bond referendum support, utility bill analysis, energy conservation and sustainability services always with a focus on “helping save money operationally so that more dollars could be redirected to the classroom or the corporate mission.” The owner is Susan Pierce, who has spent the last 22 years working with clients initially in Iowa and the Midwest and more recently in Arizona. As a CPA, a mother and a daughter of a school teacher, she has transformed her belief and commitment to education into a business designed to save schools and other organizations money. Her successful work in energy conservation through behavior change, “helping schools save energy dollars” has received national attention and resulted in the publication of her book “School Cents: The Energy Behavior Management Guide”. Hundreds of schools nationwide are using her energy behavior system in an effort to save money. In 2013, the Pierce Family created a new company called Moving Forward LLC to build, promote and license curriculum that complements energy savings and sustainability, and the mission of Pierce Energy Planning. Called “the Moving Forward Project”, it is specifically written and designed to support teachers in implementation of state standards and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) instruction.
