PILnet is a New York, New York-based organization in the international affairs field that seeks to make law work for the poor, vulnerable, and unrepresented by equipping public interest lawyers with new tools and by building networks of pro bono counsel. Operating as a strategic bridge between public and private actors, it pairs NGOs with corporate lawyers to address emerging concerns and systemic issues, expanding access to high-quality legal support. Historically, PILnet has framed law as a force for social change and has facilitated collaborations between NGOs and law firms; in 2017, it assisted over 200 NGOs with the involvement of about 50 firms, delivering direct legal services valued at roughly $3,705,000. A recent development illustrating its ongoing regional expansion is PILnet Hong Kong Limited's partnership with Simmons & Simmons in April 2026, which accompanied a moot competition organized with the University of Hong Kong and multiple law firms.
