The Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary, located in Weston, Massachusetts, is a higher education institution dedicated to forming candidates aged 30 and older for priestly ministry. It is the only American seminary for mature candidates administered by diocesan priests, and it has welcomed people from diverse professional backgrounds for more than five decades. The program emphasizes human, spiritual, academic, and pastoral formation, leveraging the varied life experiences of its seminarians to enrich the community and future church ministries. Serving the Catholic Church, the seminary operates with a relatively small staff to support its mission in the higher education space. A March 2023 report described PSJS in relation to Vatican II with a pastoral focus on what it means to be the Church in the modern world.
