Privacy International is a London-based charity and non-profit organisation that investigates the secret world of government surveillance and identifies the companies that enable it. It pursues litigation to ensure surveillance is consistent with the rule of law and conducts research to catalyse policy change. It raises awareness about technologies and laws that place privacy at risk to keep the public informed and engaged. The group strengthens privacy protections by working with partners in developing countries and with international organisations to safeguard the rights of the most vulnerable. In April 2025, Privacy International partnered with CND Salisbury to challenge the UK government's decision and its underlying powers, with the aim of upholding privacy and freedom of expression.
