Private Capital Corporation, a small financial services advisory firm based in Novato, California, traces its roots to 1976 as an ESOP-focused investment-banking practice. It expanded through the 1978 acquisition of Kelso Company and, after selling its interest in Kelso in 1981, returned to ESOP consulting and private placements before broadening to assist clients with refinancing, selling, or acquiring other companies.
