Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is a non-profit regulator for the engineering profession in Ontario. It oversees the licensing of more than 85,000 engineers and engineering license holders to protect the public interest by ensuring that only qualified individuals practise engineering in the province. The organization establishes and maintains standards of knowledge and skill, practice, and ethics, and it works to raise public awareness of the regulator’s role. Based in North York, Ontario, PEO serves the province’s engineering community as the licensing authority for professional engineers in Ontario. Its mandate centers on validating qualifications for licensing and monitoring professional conduct to support safety, accountability, and professional integrity in engineering. A notable leadership development occurred in early 2023 with the appointment of Jennifer Quaglietta as chief executive officer and registrar.
