Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1868 and based in Atlanta, Georgia. It serves as a professional community for photographers, providing education, resources, and upholding industry standards to support skill development and professional integrity. Through competition, certification, and degree programs, PPA helps members refine their craft and distinguish themselves to clients, serving a global membership across many countries. PPA supports photographers who aim to build sustainable, profitable businesses while elevating their practice, offering benefits such as a comprehensive educational library, a magazine, year-round workshops, and the Imaging USA conference. It also safeguards members’ businesses with equipment insurance, malpractice coverage, and an indemnification trust, and it advocates for photographer rights and copyright protection. In 2025, PPA expanded its educational offerings by launching a streaming platform with thousands of videos and articles and introducing PhotoVision, a curated hub for expert-led instruction.
