Proud Ground’s mission is to create permanently affordable homeownership opportunities through the community land trust model, preventing displacement and supporting long-term, multi-generational housing stability. Our portfolio includes more than 600 homes across Multnomah, Lincoln, Washington, Clackamas, and Jackson counties in Oregon, as well as Clark County, Washington--making us the largest community land trust in the Pacific Northwest.

We are BIPOC-led at both the Executive Director and Board Chair levels, with 75% of staff identifying as BIPOC and 33% bilingual in Spanish. This leadership composition ensures organizational decisions are informed by lived experience and cultural competency.

Governance is structured to elevate community voice through a tripartite board model of which a minimum with at least one-third of board seats held by Proud Ground homeowners. Additional seats are held by community members and public- and private-sector partners, ensuring balanced decision-making.

Proud Ground is recognized as a connector and thought leader within the affordable housing/homeownership ecosystem, bridging public agencies, nonprofit partners, lenders, realtors, and community-based organizations to expand equitable access to homeownership. By maintaining a strong understanding of the local and regional housing landscape, and by listening closely to community voices, we help shape strategies that prevent displacement and increase long-term housing stability.

We target our services to low-income households, communities of color, first-time homeowners, and first-generation homeowners: intentional outreach, homebuyer education, down payment assistance, and long-term post-purchase stewardship. In addition, Proud Ground is the only non-profit real estate brokerage in Oregon, and serves Washington, too.
