PSS is a multi-service nonprofit organization based in New York City with a mission to strengthen the capacity of older New Yorkers, their families, and communities to thrive. Founded in 1962, the agency relies on a workforce of about 120 staff and a large pool of volunteers and interns to deliver services across all five boroughs. It operates 10 community centers for older adults that provide meals, daily activities and socialization, technology instruction, healthy living programs, and access to onsite social workers.

Its service mix includes two Senior Residences in Corona, Queens, and the Bronx, along with Circle of Care programs that support families caring for someone who is frail, chronically ill, or memory-impaired. Additional offerings comprise Life! University, a lifelong learning center delivering virtual, in-person, and hybrid classes; NY Connects Brooklyn, which connects older adults and disabled individuals to local resources in Kings County; and Case Management serving more than 1,000 homebound Bronx residents by linking them to home health aides, home-delivered meals, and a range of benefits and entitlements.
