PIVB as an entity emerged after the completion of a rationalisation scheme between Public Merchant Bank Berhad (PMBB) and PB Securities Sdn Bhd, both of which were members of the Public Bank Group. PMBB was incorporated in 1973 as Asian International Merchant Bankers Berhad and subsequently changed its name to Sime Merchant Bankers Berhad in 1996. PMBB entered into a new chapter in its history when it was acquired by Public Bank Berhad in 2000. PMBB offered full-fledged merchant banking and related financial advisory services. Public Investment Bank Berhad was established in 1974 as G.P. Securities (Sendirian) as an unlimited Company. In 1981, the company converted to a company limited by shares and had subsequently changed its name to PB Securities Sdn Bhd after it was acquired by Public Bank Berhad in 1987. With over 30 years of experience in the merchant banking and stockbroking businesses, PIVB can be relied upon to offer extensive merchant banking and stockbroking-related products and services.
