Pure Water for the World, Inc. (PWW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to improve lives by empowering people with access to life’s most basic necessities: safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education. PWW was founded in 1994 as a club project by passionate Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Brattleboro (VT). Success of the project outgrew the club’s capacity and, in 1999, Pure Water for the World, Inc. was established. PWW is based in Rutland, VT with offices in Tegucigalpa, Trojes and Maraita, Honduras, and Limonade, Haiti. All staff members are native to the countries they serve. PWW’s vision is a world in which all people have safe water, proper sanitation and the knowledge to sustain it for future generations. PWW works to protect the human right to basic necessities by empowering people, living in underserved communities of Haiti and Central America, with the essential tools and education to establish sustainable safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs that support the health and wellbeing of community members, protect local water sources and the surrounding environment, and reduce the causes and impact of waterborne diseases. PWW’s WASH Training and Consulting Services teams provide workshops and consultations to other NGOs, government agencies, health officials, and educators, focused on the causes of waterborne diseases and how to prevent them in simple, effective ways. This training approach accelerates access to safe water and sanitation, facilitating expanded reach to communities in need, with the overall health benefits multiplied exponentially. To date, PWW has partnered with over 730 communities, reaching more than 750,000 people. PWW meets all 20 BBB Standards (give.org) and has earned Guidestar's Platinum Seal of Transparency, 100/100 by Charity Navigator, 2022 Classy Award Finalist, 1% for the Planet Nonprofit Partner.
