Purplemath was founded by Elizabeth Stapel in 1999, was incorporated in 2012, and is the company behind the award-winning website Purplemath.com. Purplemath contains Ms. Stapel's free-access algebra lessons, which are informal, sometimes irreverent, and always written with the struggling student in mind.
