Established in 1973, Qatar University (QU), the State of Qatar’s first higher education institution, seeks to become a model national university in the Middle East region, recognized for high quality education and research, and for being a leader of economic and social development. The organization has produced over 60,000 graduates, among which are many leading figures in government and the public and private sector. From its beginnings as one college – the College of Education -- QU now has 11 colleges offering over 97 academic programs. These programs are aligned with societal and labor market needs and are in line with the goals and values expressed in Qatar National Vision 2030 and the national development strategies. Today, QU is the fastest growing university in research in the Arab region, with a dedicated Research Complex, 18 research centers of excellence, and an ambitious 5-year roadmap fielding critical national priority issues.
