Our Incredible Journey

Founded in 2008, Qcitymetro.com was one of the nation’s first digital-only news organizations founded to serve a local, Black audience. It’s founder, veteran journalist Glenn H. Burkins, was concerned that Charlotte’s African American community was in danger of being left behind as more local news and information moved from print publications to various online mediums. Our sole mission is to provide news and information relevant to this growing community.

Qcitymetro made a name for itself by delivering on that promise. We strive to publish news, views and information that is both timely and relevant. Our writers are part of the community we serve, and we have opened this website to the diverse voices and opinions that emanate from any healthy community.

Now eight years later, the Qcitymetro brand has grown to include several newsletters and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
