Quinstance was founded in late 2014 to change how people shop. We believe that people who make things with their hands should directly benefit from the sale of those products. So we purchase straight from the makers whenever possible: glassblowers, clothing makers, woodworkers, letterpresses, soap makers and more. 

90% of what we carry is American-made, but we reserve the other 10% for fair trade. We believe in supporting the work artisans around the world are creating, in some of the poorest countries. About 50% of the brands we carry are owned or created by women. We don't seek out woman-owned enterprises; we don't have to. Women are designing, crafting, making and innovating out there, and we find them everywhere. 

A quinstance is an object you stumble upon that makes you happy each time you look at it, put it on or use it. A quirky coincidence. A touchstone that helps you through your day. That can be as simple as a bar of soap that sets your mood each morning or as elegant as a silk scarf, hand-dyed and hand-pleated. Let us help you find yours.
