READ 718 is a nonprofit organization based out of Brooklyn, NY. We provide individualized literacy instruction and mentorship to low-income students in grades 3-8 who are reading below grade level. We pair students one-to-one with trained volunteer tutors, allowing neighbors and community members to work together and develop meaningful relationships. Students and tutors work together two times a week for a 10 week cycle, targeting specific literacy skills. As a whole, our READers go up 1.3 reading levels per cycle! We currently serve students across three after school programs: READ 718 Remote, READ 718 Bed-Stuy, READ 718 Boerum Hill.
