RAICES is a non-profit legal services organization based in San Antonio, Texas, founded in 1986 to assist families seeking safety and freedom in the United States. It began as a two-person operation in a small San Antonio office and expanded to serve multiple Texas cities, with the aim of making its services accessible to rural communities statewide. It traces its roots to the Sanctuary Movement and was accredited by the Department of Justice as a legal services provider in 1993, prioritizing access to legal representation to improve outcomes in immigration court. 

Today, with Texas roots and national reach, RAICES advocates for the rights and well-being of immigrants, families, and communities across the country by providing legal and social services. In 2017 it expanded to include refugee resettlement services through collaboration with the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, broadening its mission beyond legal advocacy.
