RSS works with dental offices to submit their claims and related transactions electronically.  RSS was created by the Delta Dental Plans of Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan to connect offices and insurance companies to drive down administrative costs.  Dental insurance is primary driver for a community’s oral health.  When RSS began operations in May 2002, only 40% of dental offices had internet access and 23% of claims were submitted electronically.

Erick Paul, was recruited as the President and operations began in the garage of his home in Martinsville, Indiana.  The first step was to survey 5,000 offices across the country to understand how they thought, where their pain points were, and how they adopted technology.

The research showed offices were comfortable with their fax machines and preferred bundled pricing with great service.  The initial product, Remote Lite, is still our flagship application.  Offices can submit all their claims electronically from their desktop as well as all related transactions including attachments.  The application would automatically determine if an office had internet access and dial directly to us when they did not.  
To aide in adoption, offices were asked to fax their claims to us.  We would data-enter their claims and migrate them to Remote Lite as they became comfortable with the process and faster payments.  80% of all offices that began by faxing claims were converted within 6 months to Remote Lite.  As the number of offices grew, we were able to work as an advocate for the dental office improving connectivity with insurance companies and the quality of the transactions.

Today, RSS is the second largest claim service in the dental industry.  Over 28 thousand dentists use RSS because it offers a higher quality service than our competition and at a fraction of the cost.  An office using RSS’s services saves an average of $1,400 per year while getting paid faster.
