RSI is a nonprofit focused on strengthening access to justice by improving court-based alternative dispute resolution systems. It partners with state and federal courts across the United States to develop, monitor, and evaluate quality court ADR programs, leveraging decades of research and tailoring plans to each court’s needs from its base in Chicago. During the COVID-19 pandemic RSI launched video eviction mediation programs in three Illinois judicial districts serving more than 920,000 residents and continues to administer an eviction mediation program in Kane County; it also established foreclosure mediation programs in Illinois since 2013 and started a child protection mediation program in Kane County in 2017. RSI operates a free online Resource Center that provides guidance for professionals in court ADR, including basics, program success, mediation efficacy, and topics such as online dispute resolution and diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. A notable recent development is the June 2024 appointment of Heather Fogg as chief executive officer, signaling leadership continuity as RSI expands its nationwide work with courts.
