Silicon semiconductor technology advances, driven by requirements for more cost-efficient and power-efficient designs, have enabled lower cost and more highly integrated amplifier, LNA, and switch functions.  The latest advancements in technology are rapidly expanding in mass production and are enabling a new generation of mobile device using silicon for many RF functions previously designed with GaAs.
