RFT Techniques is a manufacturer of high power resistors, terminations and attenuators for high reliable application. RF Techniques is the only company supplying high temperature brazed flange mounted resistor, termination and attenuators. All products are designed and manufactured in the USA. RF Techniques utilizes a high temperature brazing process that yields the lowest possible thermal resistance at higher temperature device operation. This proprietary processing also ensures higher reliability and longer performance life. The high temperature fluxless brazing process eliminates the concerns of lead separation during soldering operations and provides a joint without corrosive flux residue. These resistor products will withstand substantial forces applied to the lead due to different rates of contraction and expansion of the lead during temperature variations.Brazed part dissipate more watts per square inch than soldered part. Brazed devices has an operating temperature up to 250 degree C. This high temperature capability provides the user with improved system reliability and a wider margin of performance under abnormal operating conditions. Brazed parts are also capable of withstanding much higher temperature for short period of time without damage. Brazed part assembly is done at a temperature over 800 degree C using a flux less procedure while the soldered part is assembled at the solder temperature between 150-220 degree C. Brazed part has 250 degree power deration while the standard part has 150-180 degree power deration. Brazed part cost is higher than the soldered part but it has much higher reliability than the soldered part. Initial cost of the soldered part may be low but if you add the cost of repair & field failures, the brazed part will be a better buy. RFT line of RF products include surface mount chips, tab & cover chips, and flange mounted in Alumina, ALN, and BeO substrate materials.
