Rhode Island Latino Arts (RILA) is a Rhode Island-based nonprofit organization focused on promoting and developing Latino arts, culture, history, and heritage within the state. Founded in 1988 as the Hispanic Heritage Committee, it operates from Central Falls, Rhode Island, and serves as a hub for Latino arts through programs that include networking events and a coordinated effort for National Hispanic Heritage Month year after year. The organization manages La Galería del Pueblo, the village gallery and cultural space in Central Falls, and supports an oral history project that documents Rhode Island Latino experiences, led by its executive director who founded the project. In addition to fostering artistic creation and preservation, RILA collaborates with local institutions, such as Trinity Repertory Company, to broaden access to Latino arts through partnerships that expand public engagement with the community’s artistic legacy.
