The firm was founded in 2005, with a history that dates back to 1998, by a team previously employed by Commonwealth Trust Company and SMC Capital Inc., subsidiaries of Kentucky-based Commonwealth Bancshares.
As of June 30, 2025, we manage more than $10.0 B in total assets*. Our strategies are offered through institutional separate accounts, collective investment trusts, and sub-advised U.S. and non-U.S. mutual funds. We are a model portfolio provider to various investment advisers and sponsors of wrap programs.
Our investment philosophy is based on our proprietary Absolute Value approach initially developed by the firm’s co-founders. The objective of Absolute Value investing is to provide attractive, sustainable returns over the long term. At River Road, we believe integral to this objective is an emphasis on positive return consistency and, correspondingly, minimizing downside portfolio risk.
