R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) is a Canadian employee-owned, led and operated Civil and Environmental Engineering Consulting Firm of over 450 professional, technical and support staff.

Founded in 1970 by Bob Burnside in the Town of Orangeville, Burnside is a diverse values-driven, multidisciplinary company with ten offices in Ontario and one in Winnipeg, Manitoba with our locations strategically selected to be in close proximity to our clients and staff. 

Burnside has been providing consulting services to various communities for over 50 years.  What started as a firm that focused on classic civil engineering has grown to become a diverse firm with expertise in core service areas including including water and wastewater, transportation planning and design, transit, land development, development engineering, municipal drainage and peer review, buildings, environmental planning and ecology, GIS, hydrogeology, landscape architecture, solid waste, stormwater management, structures, asset management and air and noise assessments.
