RNP is Brazil's national network for education and research, operating within the Technology, Information and Internet sector and based in Rio de Janeiro. It provides secure, high-capacity internet, tailored services, and supports innovation projects for its member institutions. The network encompasses universities, educational and cultural institutes, research agencies, teaching hospitals, parks, and technology hubs, serving about four million students, teachers, and researchers.

Historically a pioneer in bringing the internet to Brazil, RNP now spans all federative units and connects with other education and research networks worldwide via terrestrial and submarine fiber. It is designated as a social organization linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and is maintained in collaboration with multiple ministries through the PRO-RNP Interministerial Program. Its mission is to promote science and education for all, guided by values including innovation, cooperation, commitment, ethics, and respect.
