The Robinson Helicopter Company, based in Torrance, California, has produced light civil helicopters since its founding in 1973 by Frank Robinson. It designs, manufactures, and flight-tests its aircraft at its own facility, maintaining substantial in-house production to support quality and efficiency. The firm's current top models are the R44 and R66, following the introduction of the R22 in 1979, and the company has produced more than 13,000 helicopters to date. The company markets to civilian rotorcraft operators and pilots worldwide, offering training programs at the factory and pursuing ongoing improvements such as a cargo hook for the R66 and an autopilot designed for helicopters. In June 2026, the Robb Report named Robinson's all-new R88 to its Best of the Best list in Aviation, highlighting ongoing product development and recognition in the industry.
