The Rolling Hills Zoo is a nationally recognized zoological park situated near Salina, Kansas. Our zoo is accredited with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, The AZA is the independent accrediting organization for the best zoos and aquariums in America and the world, assuring the public that when they visit an AZA-accredited facility, it meets the highest standards. Less than 10 percent of the 2,800 wildlife exhibitors licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture under the Animal Welfare Act meet the more comprehensive standards of AZA accreditation.

The Rolling Hills Zoo is an 501(c) registered non-profit that is dedicated to wildlife conservation and educating the next generation on the importance of bio-diversity on our planet. We engage in public science education, significant conservation and animal welfare projects, and deliver the very best in animal care and welfare for our animals, while providing engaging, meaningful family oriented experiences that last a lifetime.

Many of our residents have been featured in National Geographic as part of the Joel Sartore’s "Photo Ark" project. One of National Geographic's covers was of our own waxy monkey tree frog.

Photo Ark was a multiyear effort for Sartore to photograph captive species and inspire people to save these animals before they disappear. For many of Earth's creatures, time is running out. Species are disappearing at an alarming rate. To motivate people to care and help stop the crisis, Sartore is creating intimate portraits of an estimated 12,000 species of birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
