The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tulsa is an independent, non-profit corporation, locally owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tulsa, Inc., and is entirely dependent upon donations and is truly a community effort. RMHC of Tulsa, Inc. operates through its Board of Directors and Advisory Board, comprised of volunteers - parents, health professionals, McDonald's representatives, community volunteers, business and civic leaders - all working together to provide this much-needed facility for families during their time of need. RMHC of Tulsa is a home-away-from-home for families whose child is being cared for in one of the Tulsa area Hospitals. The House was developed to provide a homelike atmosphere for families facing the stress of medical treatment for their child. Families are able to share their concerns, experiences, and fears with others facing similar circumstances. To be with their children, families including brothers, sisters, and grandparents can spend their days and nights in hotels or in hospital lounges. Removed from relatives and friends, families need a warm, loving place to be with their children during the outpatient treatment period. RMHC of Tulsa answers this need. It provides a place where the whole family can stay in a home-like environment. Families find support as they share with other families who are also undergoing the trauma of childhood illness.
