Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution companies in North America, with a growing emphasis on value-added processing. It operates through three segments—metal service centers, energy field stores, and steel distributors—and is based in Mississauga, Ontario, with a mid-sized workforce.

The metal service centers stock and process a broad range of metals, including carbon steel in hot rolled and cold finished forms, pipe and tubular products, stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals, sourcing mainly from North American producers and tailoring products to end-user specifications. The energy field stores serve the energy sector by distributing flanges, valves, fittings, and tubular goods from North American mills and other manufacturers. The steel distributors act as master distributors, selling large volumes of carbon steel plate, flat rolled products, beams, channel, and pipe to other service centers and large equipment manufacturers on an as-is basis. In 2025, the company announced the acquisition of seven service center locations from Kloeckner Metals Corporation, expanding its geographic footprint.
