Safe N Sound Swimming was founded in 1986 by Kerrie Gordon.  As a mother of 6 children, Kerrie has always been focused on keeping children safe in and around the water. As a collegiate-level, competitive swimmer, Kerrie also values proper swim skills and stroke development.  In starting her swim school, she combined both of these elements into Safe N Sound Swimming. Thus our company name says it all; Safety first taught in a Nurturing way based on Sound swim techniques.

Our curriculum from the beginning has focused first on teaching children how to be safe in and around the water and then how to swim properly. Our first three swim levels are dedicated to safety. Once a swimmer has confidence in the water, they can more easily learn proper swim techniques. Once a student advances past our first three safety levels, our focus switches to proper swim skills. When all 5 levels are complete, a student becomes a Certified Safe N Sound Swimmer. Many of our swimmers graduate to competitive swimming and some even return a few years later to become Safe N Sound Certified Instructors.

Over the years, we have expanded our offering beyond swim lessons to meet the growing needs of parents and children in our area. Our summer-time Swim and Adventure Camps are very popular and fill up fast. As our mission is to always strive for best-in-class, "sound"​ services, we have done the extra work to become an accredited day camp through the American Camp Association. We are very proud of this accomplishment. Our camps cater to children ages 6 to 13. They are water and adventure based day camps.

Safe N Sound Swimming is also an American Red Cross Authorized Provider. Of course any pool needs lifeguards. However, we wanted to stay true to our mission going beyond just guarding and also teach and train others to become certified lifeguards. We partner with the American Red Cross to provide Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor certification and renewal.
