San Mateo County Community College District is a higher education system that oversees three colleges—Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College—serving residents of San Mateo County, California. It provides transfer-focused first two years of college instruction alongside more than 90 vocational-technical programs, enabling students to earn associate degrees or certificates of proficiency. Distance education is available at all campuses, with programs for concurrently enrolled students and a Community Education Program offering noncredit courses for a fee. The district is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is governed by a six-member Board of Trustees with a chancellor overseeing day-to-day operations. Founded in 1922 and based in San Mateo, California, between San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the district serves a diverse student population of about 45,000 annually across its three colleges. In 2026, it announced plans to construct a 316-bed student housing complex on the College of San Mateo campus.
