SASREF operates a refinery complex at Jubail Industrial City in al Jubayl, in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. The facility was purpose-built as an export refinery and is a central node in Saudi Arabia's petrochemical industry.

Construction began in 1982, with the first unit starting in 1984 and full startup in 1985, followed by a 1988 debottlenecking that raised capacity to about 305,000 barrels per day. Since 2019 the refinery has been fully owned by Saudi Aramco, and recent reports indicate SASREF is developing a supply chain for EV batteries.
