It unites academia, startups, government, and established enterprises to foster collaboration and innovation. The network includes more than 1,000 organizations and oversees a workforce of over 87,000 professionals across advanced and specialty manufacturing, digital health and data, and health-related fields.

Based in Greenville, South Carolina, the organization functions as a regional hub for the state’s life sciences ecosystem. In 2025, SCbio helped launch the Palmetto Beacon Venture Fellowship with MassBio and other partners, reflecting its role in expanding investment opportunities and industry collaboration beyond the state.
