When SCD Probiotics founder Matt Wood was just beginning his adult life, his mother was diagnosed with advanced leukemia. After her death, Matt left college to care for his grandparents—who both also had cancer—starting him down a path of research that would change the direction of his life. He made his return to school with a new purpose. As he dug into studying chemicals and their negative impact on soil, food, and human health, he was awakened to probiotics and the essential ways they empower health—a role that has been damaged by modern technologies. Under the tutelage of pioneers of the field, he discovered that when you restore balance to the microbial world, you restore the health of the ecosystem they support. Matt knew then that as a scientist, he had a responsibility to bring the power of probiotics to the world. Over 20 years of research and development, we’ve built a biotech platform to create safe, sustainable, and effective probiotic products for agriculture, industrial use, and consumers. Through multiple decades of international outreach, we’ve created a global licensee and distributor network—exporting our technology and products to six continents to impact health and sustainability worldwide.
