Second Servings of Houston is a Houston-based nonprofit focused on rescuing perishable food that would otherwise go to waste. Since its founding in 2015, the organization has collected unsold and unserved food from more than 450 food businesses and distributes it free of charge to about 150 local nonprofit partners. It emphasizes timely, safe delivery of nutritious food and operates across the Houston area, serving more than 250,000 residents each year. To date, the program has delivered more than 15 million pounds of food, valued at about $103 million, through its partner network. Within the non-profit sector, Second Servings is Houston's sole perishable food rescue organization, coordinating food recovery and distribution through a network of partner nonprofits. A 2025 development noted a partnership with Baylor College of Medicine to supply fresh food to its students.
