Self-Help for the Elderly is a private, community-based non-profit organization founded in 1966 and based in San Francisco. Its mission is to promote independence, dignity, and self-worth among seniors by helping them help themselves and by offering a broad, multicultural and multilingual set of services. Each year, it provides health care and social services to more than 40,000 seniors and disabled adults across its city footprint and the surrounding counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda.
