Senior Services of Alexandria is a local nonprofit in the health and human services sector serving aging residents in Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 1968 as a volunteer-driven meals program, it has grown into a citywide organization that supports seniors in maintaining dignity, independence, and social connection. The organization aims to ensure each senior—regardless of income, language, or mobility—has access to nutrition, transportation, companionship, and information. Its programs are organized around four pillars: nutrition through Meals on Wheels and Sponsored Meals on Wheels; companionship through Friendly Visitor and other outreach; transportation coordination via DOT Para-Transit; and education and outreach through the Senior Ambassador Program, Senior Academy, and the Claridge House community connection model. In 2025 the nonprofit hosted its Annual Gala at the Westin Alexandria Old Town to engage the community and recognize honorees.
